Questions

How long will it take me?

We anticipate a fast time to be around eight hours.

Do I need lights?

It would be advisable for all the participants to have at the very least a near light, those who expect to be out in the dark should come prepared with a front and rear light.

Is the event insured?

Open Adventure has public liability insurance to cover such events. This however does not cover personal injury; if this is of concern we would recommend that you take out personal insurance to cover all eventualities.

Am I fit enough? Really?

This is a hard event, if you are really asking you may want to have a good think before entering!

Will I have to navigate?

The route will be fully signed along its entire length. It may however to wise to familiarise yourself with the general route prior to departure.

Can friends and family support on route?

As we are providing back-up facilities we must insist that your supporters, friends and family do not bring any vehicles out on the route to follow as this will create congestion and will be a danger to cyclists and other road users. We are keen to encourage support at the start and finish.

Do I need to bring food?

There will be food provided at food stations, if however you have any particular requirements it may be best to bring what you need or require.

Will food be available to purchase at start and finish campsites?

Friday and Saturday evening - Clive Ramsey catering van will be based at both campsite who will be serving homemade chilli, pasta dishes and a variety of puddings.
Saturday Morning - Local cafe in Seascale will be open from 5am. Taking orders in advance for porridge, bacon butties and most importantly coffee!

Does the transfer go back to Seascale on Sunday as well as Penrith?

No, we are only offering a park and ride service from and to Penrith.

How big is a bike box?

Ideally your bike will be a standard size ie: 140cm x 180cm x 30cm

Will energy products be available?

We are pleased to be supported by Clif Bar at this years event. You can expect a range of products available.

Will recovery massages be available?

Yes, EPSM is a fully qualified UCAPD Sports Masseur and Sports Injury Rehab Specialist.
We will be providing recovery massages to all competitors who wish to make use of the service. On the day we are also raising money for 2 charities Help the Hero's and Meningitis UK. Anyone wanting to a have a post event recovery massage all we ask is that donate £5.

Massages will be on a first come first served basis and last approximately 10 minutes.
